Job Title: Development Director

Job Description: 

Central Montessori Academy seeks a development director to head our ongoing fundraising and
operational needs. Reporting to the Head of School, this professional must have an established
background in coordinating nonprofit donation strategies and staff/volunteer leadership.
This role involves organizing large-scale fundraising initiatives, working with board members,
managing our annual fund as well as SGO campaign and building relationships with donors, staff
and volunteers. The development director will also assist with implementing major giving and
planned giving fundraising strategies.
Our ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two – three years of fund
development experience, preferably in the education and nonprofit fields. They should also be
familiar with Excel, donor databases, and other fundraising technology to use in their daily job
duties.

Responsibilities:
● Develop and execute implementation of all fundraising initiatives and programs
including, but not limited to: Annual Fund, SGO Campaign, Capital Campaigns, Grant
Writing, Scholarship Fund and Planned Giving.
● Grant writing: assist in writing grant proposals, applications, and reports; monitor
deadlines to meet reporting requirements.
● Managing the organization’s budget and fundraising income programs.
● Identifying and stewarding prospective donors.
● Recruiting and training fundraising staff and volunteer leaders.
● Staying on top of fundraising trends and the nonprofit community, with special focus on
education/schools.
● Communicating with donors and staff via email, phone or social media.
● Answering donor and staff inquiries in a timely fashion.
● Using prospect research tools and donor databases to build donor relationships.
● Creating solicitation materials for the fundraising team.

Skills/Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree required.
● Will have at least two-three years of development experience – in an annual giving,
major gifts, and/or campaign office, preferably in an independent school or university
setting.
● Proficiency with fundraising software, Word, Excel, Canva, PowerPoint, and social media
platforms including, but not limited to, Facebook and Instagram.
● Ability to adapt to new technology as required.
● Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
● Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills required.
● Ability to multi-task and manage numerous projects simultaneously.
● Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Pay & Start Date
This is a part-time interim position starting in January 2024, working up to 30 weekly hours,
with the possibility for an increase in hours or direct hire after the end of the contracted date.
Pay is $20-$25/hr based on experience.

Job Title: Administrative Assistant

Job Description:

Central Montessori Academy seeks an Administrative Assistant to help provide general front
office and organizational support within the framework of the school’s philosophy, organization,
and policies. The Administrative Assistant serves to support the work of the school
administration team through assigned office duties. The Administrative Assistant has decision
making responsibilities within essential job functions, in keeping with school policies. The
position is hired and evaluated by the Head of School.

Responsibilities:
● Act as a receptionist; screen calls and visitors; refer inquiries, take messages, and/or
disseminate information as appropriate.
● Perform clerical and routine assignments including: recording, filing, collecting,
correcting, distributing, duplicating and typing.
● Type letters, memoranda, reports, bulletins, charts, requisitions, and other material
from rough drafts or clear copies; enter data.
● schedules appointments and meetings
● Attends meetings to provide or obtain information
● Obtains, compiles, organizes and prepares information and data for various reports,
meetings/agendas
● Ordering and distributing basic supplies and resupplying soap, toilet paper, paper towels
throughout school
● Support logistics and communication for special after school activities.
● Perform other duties as assigned by the administration team.
● Assist basic nursing duties such as: taking temperatures, isolating sick children
● May provide coverage in the absence of an employee, and assists in daily carline.

Skills/Qualifications:
● Must enjoy working with children from 18 months through 6th grade
● High School diploma or equivalent
● 2-5 years of experience as secretary, receptionist or administrative assistant, preferably
in a preschool or elementary school setting
● Telephone techniques, etiquette, oral and written communication skills, Interpersonal
skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
● School office terminology, practices and procedures including correct English usage,
grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
● Basic office management skills such as : record-keeping letter, email writing skills.
● Operation of a computer, assigned software, excel and word.

Pay & Start Date
This is a part-time interim position starting in January 2024, working up to 30 weekly hours,
8am – 2pm, Monday-Friday, with the possibility for an increase in hours or direct hire after the
end of the contracted date. Pay is $15-20/hr based on experience.
