Upper Elementary Students win Hack-A-Thon!
Jacob Haap, CMA graduate (2015), organized and was the Executive Director of a coding event called “Hack the New Year.” This was a 24 hour event, held for High School students from multiple states at Union Hall downtown. The students participated in various coding workshops, which then turned into a competition. The students took what they learned and developed their own website, games or apps in a 24 hour period. Our upper elementary students were invited to attend and participate with the high schoolers. Tyler Haap (6th) and Addison Connor (5th) both went to the event and created/coded a meme generator website. At the end of the event they presented their creation to a panel of judges competing against 8 other teams from other high schools around the area and other states. Tyler and Addison’s team won Best Overall Group for their website and work ethic during the event. Congratulations to Tyler and Addison!
