Our teachers receive specialized training above and beyond the requirements for traditional educators – becoming certified through the American Montessori Society (AMS). The highly skilled and experienced faculty and staff at CMA often provide professional development and training to other Montessori teachers, have presented at local and national level American Montessori Association Conventions, and have been speakers on university panels and discussion groups.

I have worked with children ranging from infants to school age for more than 20 years. Teaching children has always been something that I genuinely love to do, and toddlers have always been my favorite age to work with. Seeing them discover something new, or mastering something that they have worked so hard to achieve is one of the most rewarding feelings.
When I started back in 2021, I was new to Montessori education. I had never worked in a Montessori classroom, but I found that many of the processes in the classroom were in line with how I worked with children in my past experiences. I felt like I finally found the place I was meant to be.
In recent years, I have worked to educate myself more on the Montessori principles focusing primarily on toddlers. I have completed an Infant and Toddler assistant training through Crescent Ridge Academy (MACTE) and I am using available resources provided to me to educate myself further on Montessori principles and plan to attend additional classes in the future.
In my free time, I love to cook and work in my garden. I try to grow my own vegetables and love to try to find new ways to cook them. I also try to create some of my own recipes. I enjoy spending time with my family. I am married to my wonderful husband Donny and have two amazing daughters, Catie and Cassie. I also have four nieces and four nephews. Family is one of the most important things to me.
I look forward to every new school year and getting to know all the children and parents that will be attending.

After graduating from John Carroll University with a Liberal Arts degree, I became a live-in nanny. Both of the children for whom I nannied attended a Montessori school and I learned about the benefits of this type of education. After the children grew, I looked to learn more about Montessori and I attended the Santa Monica Montessori Institute, where I received my MACTE certification. At the Santa Monica Montessori School, I was an assistant teacher for two years before becoming a lead teacher. Four years later, I moved to Cincinnati to help my family with childcare.
I am excited to be a part of the CMA community. I look forward to working with your children and getting to know your families.

This is my first year working at CMA, and I am excited to be part of this community. I have been working with children for the past eight years, and while I enjoy working with all age groups, I especially love working with infants and toddlers. This stage of life is such a special time of learning and discovery, and I feel honored to support children and families through it.
In the summer, I work with a program that serves children of all ages, helping them build skills in reading, writing, and mathematics to prepare for the next school year. I also enjoy teaching children how to bake cookies and simply having fun with them.
Outside of work, I love cooking, watching football, and bringing joy to others through food. I hope to start a garden to grow my own fruits and vegetables. Family is very important to me, and I enjoy spending time with my friends, my church community, and my three wonderful grandchildren.
I am looking forward to this school year and to continuing to learn and grow alongside the children and their parents here at CMA.

I love the Montessori philosophy and our ability to “follow the child” as their interests/needs develop and mature. Children’s social and emotional development is as important as their academic success. Montessori classrooms promote development for the whole child and allow children to practice positive social skills. As a teacher, it is so rewarding to guide and observe children during their three-year cycle.
I have a Master’s degree in Montessori Education from Xavier University and hold my credential in early childhood from American Montessori Society for 3-6 year olds. I worked in a private, Montessori school in Northern Kentucky for five years before joining Central Montessori Academy in 2015. In 2017, I received training in Orton-Gillingham which has increased my passion for teaching early language skills.
I started in the Star Room with Lizzie and quickly embraced the family feeling that CMA provides. I knew this was a wonderful place like no other school I had experienced. The sense of community at CMA is amazing!
In my spare time I enjoy reading, spending time outdoors with my family and love all types of animals!

I am from Pittsburgh, and was homeschooled all 12 grades. I have always had an affinity for child-led learning.
I moved to Cincinnati over 20 years ago to work in outdoor education and then the Cincinnati Zoo. At the zoo, I founded and managed the Wild Encounters department. For 13 years, I managed staff, volunteers, and interns who would take animals out into the zoo to educate the public, run the feeding and interactive stations, and do on-mic presentations at zoo exhibits.
I have shared my love for learning with visitors, staff, and volunteers at the zoo, trail groups in the woods, and 30 feet in the air at Camp Joy, dance students in her classes, master's students on the steppe in Mongolia, and the grassland Savannahs of Namibia.
Several years ago, I started SoulAware, where I guide adults, families, couples, and kids to get what they really want out of life, learn to set boundaries, and find their own inner voice. With a fascination of the human body, mind, and spirit, I have gathered many certifications in somatic modalities such as PolyVagal Theory and Internal Family Systems.
My daughter, Calliope, started at CMA in 2023 and is in Northern Lights Room.
We can often be found in the woods, doing a craft or art, or tending to our houseplants!

I have been in the Star Room at CMA since 2015. I have my degree in Montessori Education, 3-6 certification from Xavier University. I am currently pursuing my master’s degree in teaching biological sciences through the Advanced Inquiry Program (AIP) at Miami University.
I enjoy animals and nature. When I am not doing school related activities (for my teacher or my student roles), I like to spend time with my family, friends, and various animals. I enjoy cooking, baking, and listening to music.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from The University of Cincinnati. I am pursuing my master’s degree in psychology. I have been part of the Pre-Primary support team since 2013 and through my time at CMA I have developed a love for watching students learn and grow in an environment that caters to them. I look forward to supporting the students in the Star Room on their educational journey.

I’m a graduate of Morehead State University and have also been a student at Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania and Old Dominion University at Quantico Marine Corps Base in Virginia. I earned my Montessori teaching certificate from NAMC in Vancouver, Canada.
I left Ohio after high school and am just now returning after more than 30 years away. My husband, Jim, spent 27 years on active duty in the U.S. Army and is now a retired Department of Defense civilian. Together, we’ve lived in several states across the U.S., as well as two years in Saudi Arabia and four years in Germany.
I’ve been part of the Montessori world for over 10 years, working as a Montessori teacher in Enterprise, Alabama, and as a teacher’s aide and substitute teacher in Maryland. Before discovering Montessori, I worked in public schools in Florida, Alabama, Louisiana, Virginia, and with the Department of Defense schools in Germany.
I have two children, Amy and Nicholas—Amy lives in Maryland, and Nick lives in Oregon. I also have a very spoiled puppy named Ollie, who is my favorite!
I absolutely love being in the Montessori classroom and am so happy to be part of this community!

Comet Room Lead Teacher
I have been a part of the CMA family as a parent and teacher since 2015. My love of Montessori began when I attended Montessori school as a little girl. I love the methodology, never tire of how children absorb information at this age, and find great importance in the fact that we meet the individual child where they are while challenging them appropriately.
I received my BS in Psychology from Mt. St. Joseph University. With this degree, I worked on an inpatient children’s mental health unit and was a counselor to at-risk youth before becoming a Program Director at a motor skill development facility. A few years later I decided to further my education and headed to Xavier where I received my M.Ed. in Montessori Education with a 6-9 credential. I have teaching experience in both 3-6 and 6-9 Montessori classrooms, and have taught virtually to children all over the world!
Outside of school I enjoy spending time with the people I love and our dogs. I also like baking, camping, geocaching and, on rare occasions, binge watching Netflix. We also foster dogs for a local rescue, which has proven to be very challenging, but incredibly rewarding!

I've been a career Montessori teacher which has included moving from Indianapolis to Cincinnati in 1994 to launch the first class at Clark Montessori. We had five staff members and about 70 students. I stayed on as a staff member there for 20+ years, And it's been fun to watch that school thrive and grow.
I've also been a Montessori teacher trainer for CMSTEP to help train and certify secondary Montessori teachers across the country and internationally.
Additionally, I've worked many years as a mindfulness consultant to countless schools throughout the Cincinnati area.
I'm so grateful to return to CMA where my two kids attended elementary. I'm especially lucky to be part of this lower elementary team, all of whom are skilled and committed to the education of 6-9 year olds.
When I'm not working in the classroom, you can find me walking my dog and cats in the woods, singing & playing music throughout the city, and teaching & practicing yoga.

Even as a child, I loved reading and school so finding a career in a school setting made perfect sense. I started my college degree in education but quickly switched majors after completing some field hours at a local elementary school. The children seemed uninterested in learning and the adults were obviously overwhelmed. I was beginning to think that maybe I wouldn’t have a career in a school.
Luckily, one of my assignments for college was to complete a job observation. I completed my job observation at a local Montessori school because I was looking for something local since I didn’t have a car on campus and had heard of Montessori Education in my child development classes. The first classroom I toured was a 3-6 room and I was stunned to watch the children move throughout the classroom independently, as if they were adults at work! For the next two years of my college education, I worked at this Montessori school as a Before Care Teacher and building substitute.
I completed my internship with the Healthy Connections Program at Toledo Mercy Children’s Hospital where I completed home visits with Help Me Grow, Early Head Start, and MICHV (Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting). I graduated from Bowling Green State University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Family Studies. After graduation, I was having a difficult time finding a job I truly enjoyed and I couldn’t stop thinking about those busy kids at work! My previous Head of School suggested I look into Xavier University for Montessori training.
I began my Master of Education with a focus in Montessori Education at Xavier in the Fall of 2017. As a student, I was able to work at several Cincinnati Montessori schools- including CMA! I loved learning from each school I visited. I graduated in the Spring of 2020 and I have been teaching in my own classroom since then. I love Dr. Montessori’s philosophy because it focuses on creating confident and independent children. Her materials are hands-on and engaging and the focus is on creating an engaging curriculum so our children love learning and become lifelong learners.
I worked as an Assistant Teacher at CMA during Spring 2019. I primarily worked in the Toddler and Preprimary rooms, but I loved being able to sub in the elementary classrooms. My favorite thing about CMA is how the staff encourage the children to move when they need to. Movement and sensory breaks are essential to helping our children be their best selves!
Outside of school, I love exploring Cincinnati, reading my book club’s current selection, and walking in Cincinnati parks.

Asteroid Room
I started work at CMA in 2021 as the assistant teacher in the Asteroid Room. I’m a CMA alumnus and was in Montessori schools throughout all of my education, so I have a great familiarity with the materials and curriculum. My other core teaching strengths include supporting students with executive functioning needs and social-emotional regulation. I’ve been a consistent part of the school community for many years, volunteering and visiting, and it’s been such a privilege to be part of the teaching team here.
Besides my Montessori background, my expertise is primarily in art and music. I have a bachelor's degree in sculpture and creative writing from the Art Academy of Cincinnati, and found my way into teaching after graduating. I have also taught and volunteered for the Girls Rock Cincinnati summer camp for the last several years, which is a music and arts education program. In 2024, I was the Program Director for Camp EXPLORE! in Bloomington, Indiana, in connection with the Bloomington Arts Alliance and the Hundredth Hill artist residency.
I’ve also started my own business baking bagels with my partner, and my students have continuously asked me when they’ll get a lesson on how to bake them, also (so maybe this year is the time!). I’m so excited to be teaching in the Asteroid Room with Emily again this year.

I’ve always loved teaching. It started in the basement of my childhood home in Connecticut, just twenty minutes from Long Island Sound: ‘Let’s play school! I’ll be the teacher.’ That childhood passion never faded—and now, after a career spent teaching students from ages 6 to 18, it’s still what brings me the most joy.
I lived and worked in many places including Michigan, Ohio, Delaware, and finally St. Croix, Virgin Islands. As my children became older, and I was preparing to return to the classroom, I decided to return to the mainland to obtain Montessori certification. I admired the research and work that Maria Montessori had done, studying childhood development and creating materials that addressed three modes of learning. I was in awe of techniques used in the classroom to assist individual learning. There was no need to design curriculum, as the spiraling curriculum of Montessori is vast. Montessori teachers direct a wide expanse of educational material as ‘enlightened generalists.’ At the 9-12 level (Elementary II) the training itself guides one to design material to address any content area.
I was blessed to be a Lead Teacher at The New School for thirteen years in the 6-9 classroom (Lower Elementary), then for twenty years at North Avondale Montessori School as in a 9-12 classroom (Upper Elementary). While working for CPS, I completed graduate courses in Middle Childhood from Xavier University. There are many memories I hold dear of students, clubs, activities, field trips, camp outs and celebrations.
I have been at CMA since January 2025. I look forward to continuing the journey here. We are in a new phase of development with many possibilities and potentialities.

Maria Montessori’s philosophy and methodologies, having permeated the globe during this last century, held an important and even intrinsic role in my life since before the time of my first registered memory. As a toddler, I attended the Montessori Learning Center (MLC) in Mt. Auburn and completed my childhood Montessori education at Sands Montessori and North Avondale Montessori, leaving upon my sixth grade graduation. I enjoyed school immensely as a child and my innate curiosity was fostered by teachers and peers alike. In a Montessori environment, I experienced a freedom and a respect from authority over my autonomy not typically experienced in other areas of childhood.
My anecdotal experience from Montessori educational environments imposed upon me specific observations that tended to generate unconscious suppositions. Such considerations and analyses indicated that I had never left my Montessori frame of reference. An example of values and principles derived from experience pertains to the sacred importance of generating friendships between the age groups, as a way to simulate a more organic structure of social organization where we see individual children developing at different rates, learning about their talents and strengths not only by tutelage from a teacher or mere epiphany but also by introduction via peer mentorship and active observation. I have seen such social interactions facilitate a more expansive understanding of empathy and in turn lay the foundation for establishing more empathetically connected, grounded, and mature friendships and relationships.
Older students often model behavior for those younger than them, and since the youngsters are so impressionable, it becomes incredibly powerful when they see how empathy, compassion, and consideration can be both righteous and fashionable. In this way, the cool thing becomes the type of act that benefits the community, the type of act that increases understanding and a feeling of connection amongst the children. At CMA, our sixth grade group tends to set a wonderful example for how the rest of the students in the entire school should treat each other. We look out for each other, and every student should feel seen and heard.
I began my college career studying Theatre and Dramaturgy at Reed College in Portland, Oregon, where I had initially planned on a future career as an academic. After several years, I returned to Cincinnati for closer proximity to family. After working as a barista, salesman, and later, stay-at-home-Dad, I enrolled at The University of Cincinnati where I studied Creative Writing and German Studies before finishing with a degree in Literary and Cultural Studies.
I began teaching at CMA in 2024 and am currently undergoing training for Montessori licensure. I am also the proud Head Coach (U13) of a CMA Soccer Team. Go Tree Frogs!
Specialists
In order to best serve children with differing learning styles and abilities, CMA has a full-time Intervention Specialist and Reading Specialist, on site, and has engaged the services of additional specialists in Occupational Therapy, and Speech Language Pathology. These specialists all hold degrees and professional certifications in their respective fields of study.
Shari Rouse
Reading Specialist
I began working at CMA in 2012. I work with Kindergarten through 6th grade students who are on a Tier 2 or Tier 3 level. These students receive reading intervention in areas of reading and writing. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education with a reading endorsement from Miami University in 2007. In 2017, I graduated from Miami University with my Master’s in Language and Literacy with a Third Grade Guarantee. Since college I have worked in several educational environments and none compares to Central Montessori Academy. The most exciting aspect is the close, caring community that encompasses CMA. This community provides support to older children who are role models, to younger children who gain confidence, and to the teachers who provided freedom within limits to allow those active seekers appropriate time to pursue their knowledge and independence. CMA is not only special because of the children who provide us with laughter, joy, and the realization of why we became teachers; however it is also because of the community, families, and parents that provide support, time, and help when needed.
Christina Fisk-Jackson
Intervention Specialist
I am originally from Cleveland (Go Guardians!), but moved here in August 2016 for a teaching position in St. Bernard - Elmwood Place. I taught there for 4 years, along with coaching Varsity Swim and Varsity Softball. I have been with Hamilton County ESC since 2020 and have been teaching since 2009.
In my free time, about half of the year, I am a national-level fast-pitch softball umpire. I do both high school and college, as well as select ball during the summer. I actually met my husband on the softball field, as he is another umpire.
I am Wilson Reading certified since 2013 and am currently taking an Orton-Gillingham practicum this year. During my 4 years at LaSalle, I was actually the math specialist IS for high-level math like Algebra II. Ironically, although I am a reading specialist, my favorite subject to teach is math!
Gabrielle Domka
Intervention Specialist
PP through 3rd
Hi! My name is Gabrielle Domka, and I will be your child’s Intervention Specialist this school year! I have a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Special Education from Xavier University, and I have been Orton-Gillingham trained since 2023. I have worked with students with special needs from Kindergarten to 6th grade, and this will be my 4th year as an Intervention Specialist.
I really enjoy working with the kids every day. A fun fact about me is that I went to school at CMA for 1st and 2nd grade and have attended Montessori Schools from Preschool to Sixth Grade. Outside of school, I enjoy talking and hanging out with my friends, reading a good mystery novel, and watching a good movie.
Jordan Jones
Speech Language Pathology
My name is Jordan Jones and I will be your child’s Speech-Language Pathologist. I have been a school-based clinician since 2018 and joined CMA in 2024! I’m a graduate of Miami University for both my undergraduate and graduate degrees. Go Redhawks! In my free time, you might find me spending time with family (I have a 2-year-old and an 8-month-old), playing board games, or traveling.
Linda Campbell
Occupational Therapy
I am excited to introduce myself as the interim Occupational Therapist. I earned my Bachelor’s degree from Augustana College in Illinois and my Master’s degree from Washington University in St. Louis, MO. Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of working in a variety of settings, including school-based programs, private clinics, and home health, with a particular focus on pediatrics. I have been a part of Cincinnati Occupational Therapy Institute since 2008 and took on the role of Executive Director in 2018. I am certified in Sensory Integration and have received specialized training in Therapeutic Listening, both of which have shaped my approach to helping children reach their full potential. I was also fortunate to be a part of the team that developed Camp OdakOTa, a unique summer program designed to enhance sensory and motor skills for children. I have four beautiful boys, ages 27, 25, 6, and 5. My youngest two keep me on my toes, but they have been a light in my life I never expected. I have been the supervising therapist to the occupational therapist who has worked at the school for several years, so I am looking forward to getting a chance to work with all the students we collaborated on over the years.

Andrea Rosenthal Warnken
Music Program
Elementary
I have taught general music and private music lessons at CMA since 2018. I hold a B.A. in English and theatre performance from Ohio Northern University and a J.D. from the University of Cincinnati.
I still marvel at the circuitous route I took to becoming a teacher. From litigator to stay-at-home mom to music educator? Sure, why not! Hanging up my suits and focusing on music was like coming home.
Being in a profession where I get to draw out imagination, mine for self-confidence, and build students’ skills makes for fulfilling, interesting days. My lessons are constantly evolving, as each year brings new group dynamics and new areas of interest for the students. I rely heavily on the Orff-Schulwerk method of teaching and attend continuing education seminars in that area.
I have performed in plays, musicals, swing choirs, concert choirs, concert bands, wind ensembles and orchestras in the past and have sung with the May Festival Chorus. I have written, recorded and performed original music and more recently have explored writing prose poetry and creating film shorts. I find that a little bit of all those musical experiences finds its way into my work with your children.
Working with staff and faculty who dedicate themselves to maximizing every child’s educational and personal growth is something I truly appreciate about CMA. Having taught in other schools, I can say that we have a uniquely engaged and supportive parent community.
Chelsea Borgman
Art Teacher
K through 6th
I’m an artist and educator grounded in Montessori. I attended The New School from preschool through sixth grade, an experience that cemented my belief in student-led learning and the power of the prepared environment. I embrace Montessori as a feminist teaching method—centering agency, choice, collaboration, and care—and it’s the core of my teaching philosophy.
I hold a master’s degree in Art Education with a dual focus in Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies from Penn State University and a bachelor’s in Studio Art from Kenyon College. In 2019, I received the Judy Chicago Art Education Award. I currently teach art at Central Montessori Academy and at Leaves of Learning, where I offer classes such as sewing, comics, jewelry making, cosplay, and more. Previously, I served for six years as a teacher and gallery coordinator at Brazee Street Studios, teaching glass fusing to children and adults. I’ve also worked as an educator in art museums, galleries, and schools. I’m passionate about learning and experimenting through art-making, and I love helping students discover their voice and process.

Sarah Walker
Head of School
From my very first visit, I was immediately drawn to our warm, welcoming Montessori community. I’m Sarah Walker, and I’ve dedicated over 30 years to education, focusing on fostering growth and positive change in schools across the country.
I hold an M.Ed. in Educational Administration from the University of Cincinnati, with a specialization in change theory. I’m also honored to have been recognized twice as a Gabbard Fellow for Educational Leadership during my doctoral studies.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of leading program improvements at schools across the country—Georgia, Connecticut, California, and New York. My journey into Montessori education began later in my career, and in 2014, I earned my Montessori administrator credentials from the Montessori Institute of Atlanta.
As a passionate advocate for Montessori principles and a servant leader, I am deeply committed to supporting both students and educators. Returning to Cincinnati feels like coming home. As the proud parent of two adult children and a grandmother, I’m thrilled to bring my experience back to the community where I raised my children and served for many years as a dean and upper school English teacher at The Cincinnati Country Day School. All my travels and studies have prepared me to continue this journey in service to Central Montessori Academy.
At CMA, I look forward to partnering with our dedicated staff, families, and students as we grow and develop together, guided by our AMS recognition. Please don’t hesitate to reach out—I’d love to meet you and invite you to explore our campus!
Terri Cerimele-Rieger
Director of Montessori Instruction
I was blessed to join the CMA community as a parent when my son began first grade here many years ago. Happily, I joined the pre-primary staff the following year. Before CMA, I had taught a total of four years in Montessori classrooms; two at the Toddler Level (18 months – 3 years of age) and two at the Pre-Primary Level (ages 3 – 6). After joining CMA’s staff, I worked nine years in CMA’s Early Childhood classroom. I also continue to work with the Kindergarteners as an instructor for their weekly music studio. I have been teaching at the Lower Elementary Level since 2013. I also do field consulting work for the Center for Guided Montessori Studies. I came to Montessori Education later in life, going back to school at age 41, and completing my Early Childhood certification (ages 2.5 – 6). In 2014, I completed my studies in Elementary Education and received my Montessori Elementary certification (ages 6 – 12). In all, I have worked in a Montessori environment since 2000. In addition to my Montessori education, I have certifications in the Musikgarten Early Childhood Music and Movement programs (birth – 7 years of age). I received a B.A. from Xavier University in Theology with a minor in Music Education. My M.A. in Mental Health Counseling was conferred upon me by the University of Cincinnati. Before beginning my teaching career, I worked both as a Director of Youth Ministry (working with teens, 7th through 12th grades) and as a Hospice Grief Therapist.
Those who already know me have discovered that one of my greatest passions is the performing arts, especially theater and vocal performance. I continue to perform around town as time permits. Through the support I receive from my faith, family and CMA community, I continue to find great joy and fulfillment working each day with your precious children.

I grew up as a Montessori child, having attending Sands Montessori and then Clark Montessori, I is well versed in Montessori philosophy and involved in the Greater Cincinnati Montessori community. I am now a proud Montessori parent to my son at CMA! I love that Montessori learning environments have the ability to foster strong independence and outstanding creativity in children. Above all, I appreciate how inclusive the Montessori classroom is for children of all learning styles and abilities.
