Why CMA

How does CMA compare to other private school options?

Central Montessori Academy gives the child a sense of self and independence that no traditional environment can provide. We teach children to think outside the box and to be self-reliant, which builds confidence. Our teachers create work plans for each student, to meet their needs. In our Montessori environment, there are many opportunities for children to solve problems, socialize, and help one another.

Enhanced Student Services

CMA is one of the rare independent Montessori schools in the Greater Cincinnati area that offers enhanced student services, such as intervention specialists, OT, SLP, and reading specialists.

Classrooms and schedules at CMA are orchestrated to support the process of learning.

How does CMA compare with other area Montessori options?

Other schools may have just one “lead” Montessori certified teacher in the classroom. Our classroom instructors and assistants are all Montessori certified, or are aspiring Montessori teachers.

The teachers at CMA tend to stay at CMA. Low teacher turnover keeps our program strong and dedicated to the authentic Montessori education. Some teachers have been here 15-20 years while the average of all teachers is around 8 years. Since the child has the same teacher for three years, the child-teacher relationship is strong. We understand that each child is unique and so the teachers adjust the studies to provide individual plans, which is why the student-teacher relationship is so important to remain consistent when possible.

Diverse Community

We draw students from many cultures and backgrounds—and this fosters a population that serves as a microcosm of the children’s larger society. We encourage our families and friends to share their histories and traditions. Our teachers and parents have given presentations on Diwali, the Chinese New Year, The African Harvest Festival, and more.

Campus

At CMA, we believe connecting with nature is important for children. Our five-acre campus provides outdoor play spaces, learning areas, and activities that develop motor skills, build friendships, and foster an appreciation of nature.

The playground environment at CMA was designed and constructed by a specialist company called Natural Playgrounds. These play spaces, combine landscape elements, movement corridors, sun paths, weather patterns, drainage courses, plant groupings, and other site amenities with carefully chosen natural materials, structures, and features to create safe, accessible, age-appropriate play, social, and learning opportunities in natural play areas that look and feel like they’ve been there forever.

Our well-rounded outdoor campus features:

  • A natural playground
  • Swings
  • Climbing walls
  • Slides and sandboxes
  • Monkey bars
  • A large field for soccer, tag, and cooperative games
  • Garden spaces
  • Woods where trails provide a place for discovery and creative play such as building forts and identifying flora & fauna
